100 Mile Diet
The 100 Mile Diet is a movement that was inspired by the book The 100-Mile Diet: A Year of Local Eating. It's an initiative that encourages eating locally farmed and produced goods as a way to reduce ecological footprints. The idea is to consume food grown or produced within 100 miles of your home to help alleviate pressures on the environment, challenge global food issues and support local businesses.
Roosters is an advocate for the 100 Mile Diet and works hard to support local farmers and producers by carrying their products and advocating for eating and shopping local.
Roosters works closely with number of local producers:
- Broxburn Vegetables & Café
- Cupper's Coffee
- Screamin’ Brothers Ice Cream
- Wiebe Sausage Works
- Let’s Pasta!
- Rockport Colony
- East Raymond Colony
- East Cardston Colony
- Hutterville Colony
- Lethbridge College Aquaponics
